Micahy’a specializes in child and adolescent populations assisting in interventions for anxiety, emotional regulation, executive functioning, trauma, ADHD, intellectual and developmental disabilities along with ASD. She has a passion for working with children and allowing them to grow into the best version of themselves. Her therapeutic approach places an emphasis on both identity and autonomy; allowing the client to lead the pace for treatment. While working with children, these two aspects (identity and autonomy) help improve self-esteem, emotional regulation and behavioral issues. Micahy’a greatly values identity development within children and provides them with the space and resources to do so in a safe and supportive environment. She enjoys providing support to children and their families as well as highlighting the importance of cultural implications.
Following CBT, Multicultural, Family Systems, Trauma Focused and play therapy approaches, Micahy’a strives to provide a holistic experience for her clients. She greatly values collaboration and approaches therapy with clients as a joint project. Micahy’a believes that each client has an individual story that deserves to be told from their perspective. During sessions, she stresses the importance of empowering clients to speak freely and openly about their values, opinions and experiences of self. Micahy’a gives clients the space to stand in their own identity and experiences, while simultaneously being met with unwavering support and nonjudgement.
