Julia Kubek

CLINICAL APPROACH

Dr. Kubek has years of experience working with children and families in both the public school and private practice setting, with extensive background in conducting comprehensive evaluations, consulting regarding special education services and interventions, as well as providing counseling and therapy. She has experience evaluating for mood disorders (i.e., depression and anxiety) as well as neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, autism, intellectual disorder, and specific learning disorder.

As a certified Perinatal Mental Health therapist (PMH-C) she also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), birth trauma, and issues in the adjustment to parenting. Dr. Kubek is particularly passionate about supporting new mothers during the postpartum period, the transitional time following birth which brings with it intense psychological, physical, and emotional changes, as well as shifts in relationships and self-identity. Dr. Kubek engages in a variety of evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy (IPT), to help clients reduce psychological distress.  She also has specialized training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and crisis intervention. As a school psychologist by training, she is also uniquely qualified to support mothers and parents of children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and others.

Dr. Kubek believes that with trustworthy support, strong therapeutic relationships, and evidence-based practice, those struggling can learn to break free of unhelpful patterns of thinking, improve interpersonal relationships, reduce negative symptoms, and find ways to experience joy and confidence in themselves and in their lives.
