Dr. Julie A. Galvin

FOUNDER, LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST, NATIONALLY CERTIFIED SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr. Galvin is a Fully Licensed Psychologist in the State of Michigan and she is also a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). In addition, Dr. Galvin is an Adjunct Specialist at Michigan State University in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education.  She has been a field supervisor, training doctoral students and other graduate students in the field of psychology for over 30 years. Dr. Galvin also holds a certificate in Perinatal Mood Disorders from Postpartum Support International.

She cherishes spending time with her family including her son, husband, and his two children who are both young adults. In her free time, she enjoys travel, cultural events, and being outdoors and connecting with nature.

BACKGROUND

Dr. Galvin employs a variety of research-based techniques in her practice, which is further enhanced by a warm, caring, and friendly personality.  Her background in psychotherapy, neuropsychological assessment, and education provides clients with a strong and diverse skill set.  She works with children, adolescents, and adults in the areas of therapy as well as assessment. She works with clients who seek assistance on a variety of issues. spanning the range from those who are adjusting to changes in their life, anxiety, and depression.  She also employs life-coaching techniques so that her clients can create a vision for their lives, set goals, and achieve their aspirations, while learning how to maintain balance in their lives.  Over the past two years, Dr. Galvin has enjoyed adding the Certified Therapy Dog, Lexie, to the team and she enjoys doing Animal Assisted Therapy and volunteering in the community with Lexie. Just recently Dr. Galvin completed a training and earned in a certificate in Perinatal Mood Disorders; she is looking forward to providing support in this area as well.   

Dr. Galvin has enjoyed an ever-evolving career in the field of psychology.  She spent the first ten years of her career in the Chicago area and has been practicing in southeast Michigan for the past several years.  She has also worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, private practice, public schools, and neuropsychology.  As the owner of Galvin Growth Group, she enjoys collaborating with the amazing team at Galvin Growth Group and providing high quality services to the community.  

She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree with Honor from Michigan State University, where she also completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology. She earned her PhD at Loyola University of Chicago’s highly regarded and fully accredited Doctoral Program.
